The career I chose is a cop, what a cop is suppose to do is serve the people and protect them. Help out in situations and stop the violence. The reason why I'm interested in being a cop is because it's something I want to do, I want to help out other in situations that other people normally won't deal with, my brother is also a cop. It's one of the reasons why I wanted this career. I know what he's been and gone through on the job and it's something I would like to do. I will cover how much a cop makes, and what his/her duty is.

The Chicago police department (Cpd) was founded back in 1835 but the city didn't make it official until 1855 where the police department was spread out through the whole city. In between that timeline there was a famous Chicago police officer named Jon Graham Burge who tortured over 200 criminal suspects to force confessions which changed the way how certain people can have the job and put through tests. this help the Chicago police department to be more legitimate.

In order to obtain the career of being a Chicago police officer you would need to have a high school  diploma, or a higher education. You would then have to go through all the physical and mental tests given. You would have have to graduate from the academy to officially become a police officer. The major you should look into when pursuing this career would have to be majors like criminal justice and law enforcement. Jobs that are related to being a police officer are judges, lawyers, crossing guards, ect.

In the average work day of being a Chiacago police officer you would have to be potroling the district you'll be asigned to, respond to any calls made from citizens or harms society. The hours that police officers work in Chicago would be a good 8 to 10 hours on a daily basis. The income range for this job would be $37,000 to $40,000. The job is paid hourly around $32 an hour.

The challenging part about having this job is that it's risky, your life could always be in danger in any situations when being called for duty, you never know how bad the situation could turn be. The positive perks of being a Chicago police officer would be having a 20% discount off anything at footlocker, free bus rides, and benefits. It's terrible for trying to get into the system since you would have to sign up for the job and you get picked by lottery out of thousands that have applied over the years. Being a police officer helps and benefits communities and the society because having the job makes the community and society safer, it's good to have norms and laws that are reasonable to make the city and state better.

This career is very important to the society because police officers help to others in danger which people would normally nobody would want to help out or wouldn't even know who needs help around the community. This career would be good for me since I already know the basics of what Chicago police officers have to deal with and my brother is also a police officer for Chicago. I do know some of the basics.
